Terms of Service

By using MifosSave you agree to these terms. MifosSave is open-source software that helps community savings groups run their operations on the Mifos X platform. It is provided to your group by your organization or a partner.

The service

MifosSave lets a group self-organize, hold meetings, collect savings, issue and repay loans, and distribute share-out — recorded against a Mifos X backend your organization operates. The app is a client; your group's data and its accuracy are governed by your organization's operation of the backend.

Accounts & roles

  • Anyone may self-sign-up with a single identity. Capabilities (organizer, treasurer, chairperson, member) resolve per group from the roles you hold.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for actions taken under your account.

Financial records

MifosSave records financial transactions but is not a bank and does not hold funds. Actual money is handled by your group according to its own rules. Records reflect what members enter; the app enforces group configuration (contribution limits, loan multipliers, corpus guards) but cannot verify physical cash handling.

Offline use

The app works offline and syncs later. You are responsible for syncing periodically so your group's records stay current. Conflicts surfaced during sync should be resolved with your group.

Acceptable use

  • Use MifosSave only for legitimate community-banking activity within your group.
  • Do not attempt to falsify records, impersonate members, or circumvent group configuration or approvals.

Warranty & liability

MifosSave is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, under its open-source license. To the extent permitted by law, the authors and your organization are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the app.

MifosSave is built on Mifos X and is distributed under the Mozilla Public License v2.0. See the Mifos community at mifos.org.

We may update these terms as the product evolves; the “last updated” date reflects the current version.
